Have you ever had the feeling of dizziness or feel like the world is spinning? You may be experiencing vertigo or Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Owens Physical Therapy Specialists have trained physical therapists who treat these symptoms.
The inner ear contains three semicircular canals, endolymph fluid, hair cells and sensory organs that tell your brain where you are in space. If homeostasis within these canals are disrupted, you may experience dizziness or vertigo. This disruption can often happen spontaneously. Most of our patients will complain about dizziness with a change in position like rolling over in bed, bending over, washing their hair in the shower, or movements that involve turning or moving their head. The physical therapists at Owens Physical Therapy Specialists can utilize specific maneuvers, positions, and/or exercises that can alleviate your symptoms. Physical therapy can really work for these patients!
